Installing tile trim is easy when you follow the right steps. It not only frames the tile but also stops cracks at corners and transitions. Here’s a guide that covers the basics.

Step 1: Choose the Right TrimSelect the trim that fits your tile thickness and design. Match the finish with the tile or go for contrast. PVC, aluminum, or stainless steel are common picks.

Step 2: Plan the LayoutTrim must align with the tile layout. Mark where trims go—on wall edges, corners, or transitions. Pre-cut all trim pieces before setting tile.

Step 3: Fix the Trim in PlaceApply tile adhesive to the surface, then press the trim strip into place. Make sure it sits level with the tile. Some trims slide under the tile while others clip along the edge.

Step 4: Install TilesPush tiles snugly against the trim edge. Use spacers to keep the grout line even. Avoid overcutting tiles near trim edges.

Step 5: Grout CarefullyOnce the adhesive sets, grout between tiles and against the trim. Clean excess grout quickly to avoid stains, especially on metal trims.

Mistakes to AvoidNever cut trim with dull tools—it causes jagged edges. Don’t mismatch thickness. Always dry-fit pieces before final fixing.
